Meringue Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. soft margarine
    1/3 c. sugar
    2 egg yolks
    1 1/2 c. sifted flour
    2 egg whites
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. chopped walnuts
    1 c. strawberry preserves
Preparation
    Cream margarine with 1/3 cup sugar; add egg yolks; beat well. Add sifted flour.
    Put mixture into ungreased 13 x 9-inch pan. Press and shape in pan.
    Bake for 15 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Let cool. Meanwhile, make a meringue of the two egg whites and 1/2 cup sugar. Fold in chopped nuts.
