Western Hash - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1 c. uncooked rice
    1/4 tsp. basil
    1/2 lb. Velveeta cheese, sliced
    1 c. chopped green pepper
    3 1/2 c. tomatoes (1 lb. 12 oz. can)
    1/2 tsp. salt
    dash of pepper
Preparation
    Brown meat; drain.
    Add green pepper, onion, tomatoes, rice and seasonings.
    Cover and simmer for 25 minutes.
    Top with cheese slices and heat until melted.
