Peppermint Taffy(By Kids) - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. sugar
3/4 c. light corn syrup
2/3 c. water
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
2 Tbsp. butter
1 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. peppermint extract
8 to 10 drops red food color
Preparation

Grease baking pans with some butter.
Heat all ingredients except the peppermint extract and food color just to boiling in saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly.
Cook without stirring to 256\u00b0 on candy thermometer or until a small amount of the mixture dropped into glass of very cold water forms a ball, about 30 minutes.
Remove from heat and stir in 1 tablespoon extract.
Pour half the mixture into one of the buttered pans. Stir 8 to 10 drops color into remaining mixture, then pour into other buttered pan.
Let cool 15 to 20 minutes.
