French Chicken - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. cut up chicken or all breasts
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 can cream of mushroom soup
    3/4 c. canned tomatoes, chopped
    generous dash of crushed basil
    1 pkg. frozen artichoke hearts
Preparation
    Cook artichoke hearts according to the directions on the package.
    Drain well.
    In a heavy skillet, brown the chicken in the shortening.
    Add the remaining ingredients, except the artichokes.
    Cover and cook over low heat for 45 minutes or until tender.
    Add the artichokes and heat.
    Serve with rice.
    Served with a green salad and a fruit dessert, this makes a very tasty, easy dinner which has a \"party\" taste.
    Serves 4.
