Rich Brown Beef Stew - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 lb. beef stew meat, cut into 1 1/2-inch cubes
1/2 c. flour
2 Tbsp. fat
4 c. boiling water
2 bay leaves
1 Tbsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
6 carrots, quartered
4 potatoes, halved
Preparation

Put meat and flour in a paper bag; shake until all pieces of meat are coated with flour.
Brown meat in fat in heavy skillet with any extra flour that is in bag.
Add water and seasonings. Cover tightly and simmer for 2 hours.
Add vegetables and continue cooking 30 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
Makes 6 servings.
