Ingredients

1 1/2 c. sugar
4 Tbsp. cornstarch
4 c. whole milk
4 slightly beaten egg yolks
4 Tbsp. butter
3 tsp. vanilla extract
6 large bananas
1 (11 oz.) box vanilla wafers
Preparation

In saucepan, blend the first 3 ingredients.
Add milk.
Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened and bubbly.
Cook 2 minutes more.
Stir 1/4 cup of hot mixture into egg yolks.
Return to hot mixture.
Cook and stir 2 minutes more.
Remove from heat. add butter and vanilla.
