Ingredients

1 c. Crisco
3 c. sugar
2 c. buttermilk
4 c. sifted cake flour
4 egg whites, beaten stiff
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar.
Add a little buttermilk and beat until fluffy.
Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with the rest of the buttermilk.
Add vanilla.
Fold in beaten egg whites. Bake in three 9-inch layer pans.
Bake 35 to 40 minutes at 375\u00b0.
