Mile High Biscuits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. all-purpose flour
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 Tbsp. plus 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. shortening
    1 egg, beaten
    3/4 c. milk
Preparation
    Combine first 5 ingredients, mixing well.
    Cut in shortening with pastry blender until resembles coarse meal.
    Combine the egg and milk and add to flour mixture.
    Stir until all these ingredients are moistened.
    Turn onto floured surface and knead about 10 times.
    Roll to 1-inch thick.
    Cut with biscuit cutter (about 2 1/2-inch size).
    Place on ungreased baking sheet.
    Bake at 450\u00b0 for 15 minutes or until biscuits are golden.
    Yields about 15 biscuits.
