Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. beef chuck roast
    2 medium onions, peeled and quartered
    1 lb. carrots
    1 (6 oz.) can tomatoes
    2 c. water
    1 Tbsp. basil
    1 tsp. pepper
    5 potatoes, peeled and quartered
Preparation
    Cube beef; saute in small amount of fat.
    Slice onions and saute in fat.
    Place beef, onions, carrots, tomatoes, basil, pepper and water into large covered pot.
    Bring to boil.
    Simmer 2 hours.
    Add potatoes the last 45 minutes.
