Mother'S Christmas Divinity - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. light corn syrup
    1/2 c. water
    2 egg whites, stiffly beaten
    1/2 c. nuts, chopped
    1/2 c. candied cherries, diced
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Combine sugar, corn syrup and water.
    Blend thoroughly over heat until the sugar dissolves.
    Cook without stirring until syrup reaches 270\u00b0 on a candy thermometer.
    Pour syrup slowly over egg whites.
    Beat until mixture holds its shape and does not flatten out after it has set.
    Add nuts, cherries and flavoring.
    Mix until mixture begins to lose some of its gloss.
    Drop from teaspoon onto waxed paper.
