Orange Slice Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    2 c. sugar
    4 eggs
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    3 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 lb. chopped dates
    1 lb. orange slice candy, chopped
    2 c. chopped nuts
    1 can coconut
    1/2 lb. candied cherries
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar until smooth.
    Add eggs; beat after each addition.
    Dissolve soda in buttermilk and add to mixture. Place flour in a large bowl.
    Add dates, candy and candied cherries.
    Stir and coat each piece; add flour mixture and coconut to creamed mixture.
    This makes a stiff dough.
    Put in greased and floured tube pan.
    Bake at 250\u00b0 for 2 1/2 hours or until straw comes out dry.
    Mix 1 cup fresh orange juice with 2 cups confectioners sugar.
    Pour over cake.
