Jambalaya - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. hot Italian sausage, cut in 1-inch pieces
    1 large onion, coarsely chopped
    1 large green pepper, coarsely chopped
    6 cloves garlic, crushed
    2/3 c. uncooked long grain rice
    2 c. cooked ham, cut in 1-inch pieces
    1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes
    1 c. chicken broth
    3 Tbsp. chili powder
    1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/8 tsp. thyme
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen, cooked shelled medium shrimp, thawed
Preparation
    Brown sausage in a large skillet. Remove sausage from skillet and drain. Add onion, green pepper and garlic.
    Saute until lightly browned. Add rice.
    Cook 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Stir in sausage, ham, tomatoes, chicken broth and seasonings. Bring to a boil.
    Pour into 4-quart casserole. Bake, covered, in a 375\u00b0 oven for 40 to 45 minutes, stirring occasionally. Place shrimp on top and bake, covered, for 10 minutes more. Serves 8.
