Pickled Beets And Onions - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 (16 oz.) cans whole long string beans
    3 medium onions, sliced and separated into rings
    1 2/3 c. vinegar
    2/3 c. water
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. oil
    salt to taste
    pepper to taste
Preparation
    Drain beans and layer with onions in a bowl.
    In a saucepan, combine vinegar, water, sugar, oil, salt and pepper; bring to a rolling boil, stirring to keep sugar from burning.
    Pour hot liquid over beans and onions.
    Cool.
    Cover and refrigerate overnight to marinate.
