Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 1/2 c. self-rising corn meal
1 egg
1 large onion, grated coarsely
1/4 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk

Preparation

Combine ingredients.
Drop in deep fat, 300\u00b0, about half a rounded teaspoonful for each puppy.
They will quickly rise to the top; brown, then flip 'em over.
