2 Step Devil'S Food Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 Tbsp. cocoa (heaping)
    4 Tbsp. sugar
    2/3 c. water
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. cake flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. butter or shortening
    1 1/4 c. sugar
    3 eggs, well beaten
    1/3 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    Combine cocoa and 4 tablespoons sugar and water in saucepan. Cook over low flame until thick and shining, stirring constantly. Let stand until cold, stirring occasionally.
    Add vanilla.
    Sift flour; measure and add baking powder, soda and salt.
    Mix well. Cream butter thoroughly.
    Add sugar gradually; cream well until light and fluffy.
    Add eggs; beat well.
    Add cocoa mixture; beat well.
    Add flour alternately with milk; beat well.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 until done.
