Shrimp With Garlic - cooking recipe
Ingredients
-
2 lb. large shrimp in their shells
1/4 c. olive oil
1 stick unsalted butter
6 garlic cloves, minced
3 tsp. fresh thyme leaves
2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. crushed red peppers (hot red pepper flakes)
1/2 c. fresh flat-leaf parsley, snipped with scissors
1/2 to 1 Tbsp. lemon juice (to taste)
Preparation
-
Rinse shrimp. Pat dry. Set aside. In your vessel, heat the oil and butter over moderate heat. (This can be prepared on a grill or in oven.) When hot (not smoking), add the garlic, thyme, crushed peppers, Worcestershire sauce and shrimp. Toss to coat with oil and butter and cook, stirring occasionally, just until the shrimp are pink (4 to 5 minutes). With a slotted spoon, remove the shrimp to a warm platter. Sprinkle lightly with the salt and with the parsley. I serve this dish as a low country dinner with newspaper covering the table and with finger bowls and extra napkins for each guest.
