Caramel Layer Chocolate Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (14 oz.) pkg. light caramels (50)
    2/3 c. evaporated milk
    1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
    3/4 c. butter or margarine, melted
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 c. (6 oz.) chocolate chips
Preparation
    Combine caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk in double boiler; cook until melted or melt in microwave.
    Set aside.
    Grease and flour 9 x 13-inch pan.
    In large bowl, combine dry cake mix, butter and 1/3 cup milk and nuts.
    Stir by hand.
    Press 1/2 of the dough into pan (keep 1/2).
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 minutes.
    Sprinkle chips over baked crust.
    Spread caramel mixture over chips.
    Crumb remaining mixture over top and bake 15 to 18 minutes. Cool slightly, refrigerate about 30 minutes to set caramel.
    Cut into 36 bars.
