Mushroom Barley Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 large onions, chopped
    6 large carrots, peeled and sliced
    1 lb. mushrooms, thinly sliced
    1 lb. stew beef, cut into small cubes
    8 c. beef broth (soup base or mix)
    1 c. medium barley
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Place all ingredients in a large soup pot and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.
    Reduce heat and simmer, partially covered, for about 1 hour.
