Raspberry Liqueur - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    3 c. water
    1 qt. fresh raspberries
    1 qt. whiskey or brandy
Preparation
    Simmer sugar and water until sugar is dissolved.
    Cool and pour over raspberries in a wide-mouth gallon jar.
    Add liquor. Cover loosely and set in a cool, dark place for 3 months.
    Strain out raspberries and strain again through several layers of cheesecloth.
    Pour into clean quart bottles.
