Spice Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. cake flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. each: mace, cloves and nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. allspice
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 c. shortening
    1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
    2 eggs
    1 c. thick sour milk
Preparation
    Sift flour with spices, salt, baking powder and soda.
    (You can use a whisk.)
    Cream shortening and sugar together until light and fluffy.
    Add eggs, beating well after each addition.
    Add flour mixture alternately with thick sour milk to creamed butter and sugar mixture.
    Beat thoroughly.
    Bake in a well-greased 9 x 13-inch pan for 45 to 50 minutes in a 350\u00b0 oven.
    Let cake stand in pan while preparing icing.
    Broiled Coconut Icing on this is very good.
