Southern Corn Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. cornmeal (white or yellow)
    1/2 c. flour
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1 egg
    1 c. milk
    1/4 c. melted shortening
Preparation
    Sift dry ingredients together. Beat egg and milk. Beat in dry ingredients, then melted shortening.
    Pour into greased 8-inch pan. Bake at 425\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes until brown.
