Devil'S Food Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. water
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 c. cocoa
    1 stick butter
    4 tsp. Crisco
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    2 1/2 c. cake flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Mix water, soda and cocoa together and let stand.
    Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, one at a time.
    Add flour and milk. Add vanilla, water, soda and cocoa mixture.
    Let stand 1 minute. Add salt.
    Bake in 3-inch pans for thick layers.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
    Cool before frosting with white or chocolate icing.
