Buttermilk Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    3 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. shortening
    1 tsp. salt
    4 eggs
    1 Tbsp. hot water
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar.
    Add one egg at a time and beat well after each.
    Add sifted flour and salt alternately with the buttermilk.
    Blend well.
    Stir in soda, dissolved in the hot water and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
    Pour into tube pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
    Reduce heat and bake at 325\u00b0 for 20 minutes.
