Strawberry Trifle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (3.5 oz.) cook and serve vanilla pudding mix
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    12 ladyfingers
    2 c. fresh strawberries, sliced
    1 c. chilled whipping cream
    1/4 c. packed brown sugar
    2 Tbsp. toasted slivered almonds
Preparation
    Prepare pudding as directed on package.
    Cover surface of pudding with waxed paper to prevent skin from forming. Cool to room temperature; stir in flavoring.
    Split ladyfingers lengthwise and arrange in a 2-quart trifle bowl or glass bowl, using as many as needed to line bowl.
