Applesauce Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. seedless raisins
3/4 c. chopped walnuts
1/2 c. soft shortening
1 1/2 c. canned applesauce
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. allspice
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
Preparation

Sift together flour, soda and salt.
Combine raisins and nuts and toss with 2 tablespoons of flour mixture.
Beat together shortening and spices.
Gradually add sugar and beat until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add flour mixture and applesauce, beating only until smooth.
Stir in raisins and nuts.
Grease Bundt or 3-quart ring mold.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour.
Cool in pan 15 minutes.
Remove cake from pan and place on rack until cold.
Makes 8 to 10 servings.
Dust with confectioners sugar or use cream cheese frosting, if desired.
