Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 1/2 tsp. red food coloring
1/4 c. cocoa
strong coffee
1/2 c. Crisco
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk
Preparation

Sift flour with salt and soda.
Combine cocoa, food coloring and enough strong coffee to make a paste.
Cream Crisco and sugar. Add beaten eggs and vanilla.
Stir in cocoa mixture and beat well.
Add flour mixture and buttermilk alternately, mixing well after each addition.
Pour into two 8-inch layer pans, greased and floured.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
