Blitzen Cuken - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 egg yolks
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. flour
    1/4 c. butter
    4 Tbsp. milk
    1 tsp. baking powder
    4 egg whites
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
    chopped pecans
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar; add beaten egg yolks.
    Add baking powder to flour and add alternately with milk.
    Spread on 2 buttered round cake tins.
    Beat egg whites until stiff, adding cream of tartar.
    Add sugar gradually.
    Place meringue on top of cake batter; sprinkle with chopped pecans.
    Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Spread layer with whipped cream (strawberries may be added to whipped cream).
    Top with second layer and enjoy!
