Fried Green Tomatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 firm green tomatoes
    1 egg, beaten
    1 c. bread crumbs or flour
    1/3 c. butter or shortening
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Slice tomatoes.
    Dip into egg, then crumbs or flour, then carefully into egg and crumbs or flour again.
    Melt butter or shortening in a large skillet.
    Add green tomato slices and cook slowly until golden brown on each side and tomato is tender. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
