Scalloped Potatoes - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 1/2 c. thinly sliced onions
4 1/2 c. thinly sliced potatoes
3 t. salt, divided
3 T. butter
2 T. plus 1 t. flour
1/8 t. pepper
1 3/4 c. milk
1/3 to 1/2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese (optional)
Preparation

Bring 1 inch of water to boil in a pan; add onions and potatoes and 2 teaspoons salt. Boil for 5 minutes, drain. Melt butter in saucepan, blend in flour, pepper and remaining teaspoon of salt. Add milk and cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Combine potatoes and onions with cream sauce. Place in a shallow baking dish and sprinkle cheese on top, if desired. Bake, uncovered, at 400 \u00b0 for 35 minutes or until golden and bubbly. Serves 4 to 5.
