Split Pea Soup - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. split peas
3 qt. water
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 c. diced raw carrots
1/2 c. diced raw potatoes
1 ham bone or 1/8 lb. salt pork
Preparation

Rinse and sort peas.
Place in large kettle with remaining ingredients.
Bring to a boil and let simmer for at least 3 hours. Season to taste.
Add more water from time to time, if necessary. Put soup through sieve, food mill or blender.
Reheat and serve.
