Chicken And Dumplings - cooking recipe
Ingredients

6 c. chicken broth (I use 6 bouillon cubes and 6 c. water)
2 c. cubed cooked chicken (3 chicken breasts)
4 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1 clove garlic, peeled and minced (optional)
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1 1/2 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. vegetable shortening
1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
1/2 to 2/3 c. ice water
Preparation

In a 3-quart saucepan, combine the chicken broth, chicken, butter, garlic and pepper.
Bring the mixture to a boil; lower the heat and simmer for 1 minute.
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt.
Blend in the vegetable shortening until the mixture is coarse and mealy.
Stir in just enough ice water to make a light dough.
