Ingredients

3 c. peeled and cored apples, sliced thick
1/2 c. water
2 Tbsp. butter
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. stale bread cubes
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Grease a 1-quart oblong pan.
Stew apples in water until slightly soft.
Melt butter in a small saucepan.
Mix sugar and spices together.
Arrange 1/3 of apples on bottom of baking pan.
Top apples with 1/3 of bread cubes, then top with 1/3 of butter.
Repeat process 2 more times to make a total of 3 layers.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until light brown in color.
Serve with Hard Sauce.
