President George Bush'S Pralines - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. light brown sugar
14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
    1 c. pecan halves
    2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
Cover 2 cookie sheets with waxed paper; set aside.
Use a wooden spoon to mix brown sugar and milk in a 2-quart glass container.
Stir well to make sure there are no lumps which tend to burn during microwaving.
    Add pecans.
Microwave on High for 6 minutes; stir.
Then microwave on High 3 to 4 minutes or until the mixture reaches 240\u00b0 on a candy thermometer (the soft ball stage). To test, drip some candy mixture into a cup of ice water.
It should form a soft ball when pressed between the fingers.
Use the wooden spoon to beat the mixture about 3 minutes or until it begins to thicken slightly.
Quickly drop mixture by tablespoonfuls onto the prepared waxed paper, making sure that each praline includes about 3 pecan halves.
Let harden completely before pulling off paper.
Store them in an airtight container.
Yields 24 pralines, 110 calories each.
