Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 egg
1/2 c. milk
2 c. yellow corn meal
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. sugar
1 small onion, finely chopped

Preparation

Beat egg.
Add milk.
Sift dry ingredients into another bowl and blend in onion.
Combine dry ingredients with milk mixture. Drop into hot fat (370\u00b0).
Fry until deep brown.
Drain on paper towels.
Serve hot.
Makes about 2 1/2 dozen.
