Bacalhau(Codfish Balls) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. codfish (see note)
    1 clove fresh garlic, crushed
    1 sprig parsley
    slat (only if using fresh cod)
    1 lb. potatoes, boiled and mashed
    1 medium onion, diced fine
    1/4 c. chopped parsley
    pinch of red pepper flakes
    1 egg
    oil (for frying)
Preparation
    Boil codfish with garlic and parsley until done.
    Drain and cool; flake and add onion, parsley and pepper flakes.
    Boil potatoes and mash them.
    Stir potatoes into codfish mixture with one beaten egg.
    Form into generous 1-inch balls or small patties (for fish cakes) and deep fry.
