Red Pea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. peas
    2 qt. water
    1 lb. sweet potatoes, yams or tania, peeled and cubed
    1/2 lb. cooking ham
    1/2 lb. pumpkin, peeled and cubed
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1/2 lb. pigs feet
    1 onion, chopped
    2 sprigs thyme
    2 sprigs celery, chopped
    1 clove garlic, crushed
    2 whole tomatoes or 1 can tomato paste
    2 Tbsp. sugar (optional)
Preparation
    Soak meat to remove excess salt.
    Wash peas.
    Cook meat and peas in 2 quarts of water until both are soft.
    Add all other ingredients.
    Cook until tender.
    Add dumplings at your final 10 minutes.
