Taffy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. granulated sugar
    1 c. water
    1 Tbsp. vinegar
    good pinch of cream of tartar
    1 lump of butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cook in iron skillet without stirring until it rattles hard in cold water.
    Turn into a large buttered platter and turn in edge as it cools.
    When cool, pull.
