Bird'S Nests - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. soft margarine
    1/4 c. light brown sugar
    1 egg yolk
    1 c. all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream together margarine and sugar.
    Add and beat in egg yolk, flour and vanilla.
    Form in balls the size of walnuts.
    Roll in slightly beaten egg white and then roll in chopped nuts.
    Place on cookie sheet and indent in middle with thumb.
    Bake 8 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Remove and press again with thumb.
    Bake 10 more minutes. While still warm, fill center with jelly or jam.
