Hamburger Soup - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 1/2 lb. ground beef
1 1/2 c. onion, chopped
1/4 c. green pepper, chopped or canned green chiles, seeded and chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
2 large tomatoes, chopped
2 c. carrots, grated
1/2 lb. mushrooms, minced or 1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms, drained
1 (46 oz.) can tomato juice
2 (10 3/4 oz.) cans cream of mushroom soup
1 tsp. basil
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. cumin
1 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 (16 oz.) can red kidney beans, drained or 1 (16 oz.) can yellow corn, drained
grated Cheddar cheese
Preparation

Brown meat in a large heavy pot until it loses its color. Drain off fat.
Add onion, peppers (or chiles), garlic and mushrooms.
Cook until vegetables are soft.
Add remaining ingredients, except cheese, and mix well.
Bring to a boil.
Cover and simmer 1/2 to 1 hour.
Adjust seasonings to taste.
Sprinkle cheese on each serving.
Yields 6 to 8 servings.
