Mama'S Cornbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. yellow cornmeal
    1 c. flour
    4 tsp. baking powder
    salt to taste (1 tsp.)
    1/4 c. sugar (optional)
    2 eggs
    1 c. milk (whole or butter)
    1/4 c. vegetable oil
Preparation
    Mix dry ingredients.
    If you like sweet cornbread, include the sugar (I omit this).
    Add the eggs, milk and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients.
    Use a seasoned black iron skillet for best results.
    Add 2 to 3 tablespoons oil or bacon drippings to pan and place in oven to heat.
    When a drop of water sizzles (pan shouldn't be smoking), remove from oven and add batter.
    Batter should sizzle some as you add it.
    Bake for approximately 25 minutes.
    Remove from oven; turn out onto plate.
