"Just In Case" Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 ready-made chocolate-crumb pie crust
    1 env. unflavored gelatin
    1/4 c. cold water
    2 c. heavy cream, divided
    1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    1 c. caramels (about 24)
    2 Tbsp. butter
Preparation
    Prepare crust as directed.
    Sprinkle gelatin over water in small saucepan; let stand one minute.
    Stir over low heat until gelatin is dissolved, about 3 minutes.
    Stir in one cup of the heavy cream.
    Heat to a boil.
    Then pour into a blender.
    Add the chips and process until the chips are melted, about one minute. When processing, add another 1/2 cup of cream, eggs and vanilla; process until well blended.
    Pour mixture into large bowl, chill for 15 minutes until thick.
