Fiesta Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large onion, chopped
    1 clove garlic, minced
    2 Tbsp. salad oil
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
    1 (16 oz.) can red kidney beans
    1 (15 oz.) can chili con carne without beans
    2 tsp. salt (or less)
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 (11 oz.) pkg. corn tortillas
    1 c. (4 oz.) grated Cheddar cheese
Preparation
    Saute onion and garlic in salad oil in large frying pan until soft (not browned).
    Remove with slotted spoon to set aside. Shape ground beef into large patty and brown (in same pan) on both sides, then break into chunks.
    Stir in onion mixture, tomatoes, beans, chili, salt and pepper.
    Heat to boiling.
    Place 3 tortillas (cut in quarters) in 3-quart baking dish.
    Top with about one cup of sauce and repeat until all is used, ending with sauce.
    Sprinkle with cheese.
    Stick several wedges of tortillas on top.
    Bake in hot oven at 400\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
