Split Pea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. green split peas
    6 carrots
    1 onion
    salt and pepper
    dash of nutmeg
    1 to 2 lb. short ribs
    1 large (46 fl. oz.) can chicken broth
Preparation
    Put peas in pot.
    Cover with water and bring to a boil.
    Cover pot with lid; turn off burner on stove.
    Let peas sit for 1 hour. Drain peas and place peas back into pot.
    Cut up the carrots and onion; add to pot.
    Add salt, pepper and a dash of nutmeg.
    Pour the chicken broth into the pot.
