Buttermilk Braid - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 pkg. dry yeast
    1/2 c. warm water
    6 Tbsp. shortening
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    2 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 c. buttermilk
    3 eggs (reserve 1 yolk)
    7 c. unbleached flour
Preparation
    In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and add a pinch of sugar.
    Do not stir.
    Let stand 10 minutes.
