Applesauce Jar Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2/3 c. shortening
2 2/3 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 c. applesauce
2/3 c. sugar
3 1/3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ground cloves
Preparation

Cream together shortening and sugar.
Beat in eggs, applesauce and 2/3 cup sugar.
Then sift together dry ingredients and add to applesauce mixture.
You may add 2/3 cup chopped nuts and raisins if you like.
Pour into well-greased wide mouth pint canning jars, filling only 1/2 full.
Bake at 325\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
Remove jars one at a time.
Wipe sealing edge clean.
Put on lid (that's been in boiling water) and tightened with ring.
Screw tight.
As cake cools, jars will seal.
Store as you would regular canned goods. Make a nice gift to keep on hand anytime.
