Orange Slice Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    2 c. sugar
    4 eggs
    1 1/2 c. buttermilk
    2 Tbsp. grated orange rind
    4 c. flour
    1 small pkg. dates
    1 lb. orange slice candy
    2 c. nuts, chopped
Preparation
    Chop pecans, candy and dates and set aside.
    Cream butter and sugar and add eggs, one at a time.
    Add candy, nuts and dates which have been rolled in a small amount of flour.
    Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes at 300\u00b0 in a well-greased and floured pan.
    Bring to boil 2 cups sugar and 1 1/2 cups orange juice.
    Punch holes in cake and pour mixture over cake, letting it soak into holes.
    Will freeze well.
