Crunchy Fried Tomatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 firm ripe or green tomatoes
    1 egg, beaten
    1 c. dry bread crumbs
    1/3 c. butter
    salt and pepper
Preparation
    Slice tomatoes in 1/4-inch slices.
    Dip slices into egg, then into crumbs.
    Melt butter in large skillet.
    Cook, turning once, until golden brown.
    Season to taste.
    Serves 4.
