Pound Cake Mississippi Style - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. butter
    3 c. white sugar
    6 large eggs
    3/4 c. milk
    4 c. flour, sifted
    2 tsp. vanilla extract
    1 tsp. rum or almond extract
    1 1/2 c. pecans, chopped
    1/2 c. cherries, cut in half
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar.
    Add vanilla and rum extract.
    Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well.
    Add flour that has been sifted three times.
    Add milk in small portions as other ingredients are added to improve texture.
    Bake approximately at 275\u00b0 for 1 hour and 40 minutes.
    Test with toothpick for doneness.
    Bake in a large tube pan or 2 smaller ones.
