Miss Mary'S Cabbage Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 head cabbage, chopped
    1 small onion, chopped
    1/2 green pepper, chopped
    3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    3 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
    1 c. milk
    1/2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
    cornbread crumbs
Preparation
    Cook
    the
    first
    3 ingredients in lightly salted water until tender.
    Drain.
    Melt butter in saucepan.
    Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.\tSlowly add milk; stir\tuntil thickened.
    Add
    cheese;
    blend
    until
    melted. Preheat oven
    to 325\u00b0.
    Layer the drained cabbage mixture and cheese
    sauce\tin
    a greased casserole.\tMake several layers, ending with
    sauce.
    Bake until
    bubbly.
    Top with crumbs (we use cornbread crumbs that are sprinkled with poultry seasoning or you
    could
    use
    cornbread stuffing
    mix).
    Return to oven until lightly browned.
    Makes 4 servings.
