Ginger Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

cucumbers
2 c. salt
1 gal. water
alum (size of walnut)
1 Tbsp. ginger
1 pt. vinegar
1 Tbsp. whole allspice
1 pt. water
1 Tbsp. celery seed
Preparation

Slice the cukes thin and cover with cold water in which the salt has been dissolved to 1 gallon of water. Soak 8 days. Drain and rinse in cold water.
Add the alum to cukes. Cover with water and boil 1/2 hour. Drain and cover with water. Add the ginger and boil 1/2 hour. Drain and add the remaining ingredients. Boil until clear, about 1/2 hour. Can.
